Support has come in for 13-year-old girl allegedly defiled by two men, including a chief, as she undergoes treatment at Aniniwah Medical Center in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Accra-based NGO, Bright Minds Foundation founded by a former legal advisor to President John Agyekum Kuffuor, is facilitating the care of the girl following JoyNews report on her condition and her mother’s inability to seek medical intervention.
Relatives of the teenager had indicated the girl had been bleeding from her genitals as well as experiencing abdominal pains, despite initial medical attention following her ordeal.

The support from Bright Minds Foundation which has a mission to protect the social, economic and psychological well-being of children burdened by demands of poverty, has come in handy.
The weak and frail-looking girl was admitted at Aniniwah Medical Center at Emena, near Kumasi, on Saturday for specialised care.
She had travelled from Freso in Bosome Freho District, together with relatives to Kumasi to begin the treatment at no cost to her family, courtesy of Bright Young Things Foundation.
She says she breaks down at the least thought of the teenager’s suffering at the hands of two male adults.
Doctors say she will remain at the facility until they are satisfied her condition has improved.
Her mother, Mary Adarkwa, is full of praise to Bright Minds Foundation for the support extended to her daughter and her family.
"The doctors put her on drips. They have been at her bedside since we came [and] I’m encouraged by their assurance. Now I can see some improvement. I’m grateful to the organisation [Bright Young Things] for the support. Their advice alone is enough motivation for me. I'm glad they allowed God to use them to reach out to my daughter," she said in Twi language.
Madam Adarkwa also commended The Multimedia Group for bringing her daughter's condition into the public domain.
Bright Minds Foundation which has been actively involved in shaping the lives of children in Greater Accra and Eastern regions is promising further assistance to bring relief to the family when the girl recovers.
