Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, has challenged former 1BF Welterweight Champion Joshua Clottey to fight him if he believes he is a good boxer. |
“My next target is Joshua Clottey, t because Joshua Clottey is not going to be a match for me. I want to fight him and I am throwing a challenge to him. I want everybody to know that Clottey cannot beat me,” Kamoko told Asempa FM’s Fire for Fire sports programme last week.
Experts have since told Bukom Banku to, concentrate on important matters and not concern himself with someone he would never be able to beat. But Banku, who last Thursday beat Ayittey Powers in a non-title cruiserweight fight at the Accra Sports Stadium, believes his critics have an overrated perception of Clottey.
“I know the qualities that I am made off, and Joshua Clottey will not be any bout for me because I am determined to beat and discipline him in the ring,” the 32-year-old boxer added.
Whether Clottey will take Banku’s bait waits to be seen, but it looks unlikely and a distant dream due to the gulf in weight categorisation of the two boxers. Clottey is a Super Welterweight while Banku is in the cruiser- weight division.
In fact, Joshua Clottey is the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) International Super Welterweight champion after he defeated Anthony Mundine in Australia on April 9,2014. He is a crack boxer who has fought the likes of world champion Manny Pac- quio and Miguel Cotto. Clottey’s fight record stands at 42 fights, 38 wins, 22 by knockouts and 4 defeats.
Bukom Banku however has an impressive record in his division with 26 bouts and 26 wins.
