Headmaster and teachers at the Subin Cluster of Schools in the Subin Constituency of the Ashanti Region, are threatening to lay down their tools in protest of attacks on them by rampaging animals. The threat follows Wednesday morning’s attack on one of the headmasters and two pupils by a rampaging bull on the school’s compound. The headmaster, a 56 year old Joseph Amankwah was dragged into a gutter by the bull and had his head crushed in the process when he attempted to rescue two pupils who were being attacked by the cow. The pupils are reported to have been discharged but the headmaster is said to be in critical condition and is on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. A colleague headmaster Mr. Owusu Bempah, said on Asempa Fm's Ekosii Sen that they live in constant fear upon seeing cattle and other animals like horses usually graze around the cluster which consist of 17 schools. Mr. Bempah the school has reported on countless occasions to the Metropolitan authorities about this situation but little effort has been made regarding the problem. They are threatening to boycott classes on Thursday since they fear they might be attacked by another animal. He said the teachers together with the headmasters will on Thursday petition the KMA, Metro Education Directorate and stakeholders to make official their decision to boycott classes until the Subin Cluster of Schools is fenced.
