Abdul Nashir Bunas has snatched the position as Upper West chairman of the NDC, and he says he will ensure that the party wins the 2020 general elections. He clinched the seat by 307 votes and won against the incumbent chairman, Mathew Sung-Aabu, who trailed behind with 81 votes.
Addressing party supporters shortly after the elections, Saani vowed to reclaim the five seats the NDC lost to the NPP in the 2016 elections. He is calling on party members to unite for a 2020 win, according to Joy News’ Upper West correspondent, Rafiq Salam, who reported from Wa.
Many who support the NDC blamed the party's slump performance in the last election on Sung-Aabu.
Apart from the gargantuan reduction in percentage of presidential votes, the NDC’s succession of five parliamentary seats to the NPP has left an ignominious stain on the party.
