The Social Security and National Insurance Trust will soon roll out an initiative called ‘’SSNIT on Wheels’’, whereby the full complement of its services at the branch such as registration of workers, pensions processing, contributions collections, among others is brought to the doorstep of members and stakeholders nationwide.

This the Trust says is in line with President Akufo-Addo's agenda to provide convenient access to services within the Public Sector.

The ‘’mini branch’’ will be in a mobile van where SSNIT will be able to move from one location to the other to make it convenient for members to access our services.

As part of this, the Trust embarked on a sensitization service in Koforidua, Oda and Kade in the Eastern region.

Deputy Director General in charge of Operations and Benefits, Laurette Otchere, urged members of the pension scheme and the general public to regularly use the digital platforms to update their records and also check their statements online.

“And we’re here today, Koforidua at the moment. Where we’re doing what we do annually…we call it mobile service week where we bring our services closer to our stakeholders, our members and to the general public. What we’re trying to do is that for those who can’t always come to the branch, we’re setting up camps at different locations all across the 16 regions”, she said

“We have about 50 locations across the 16 regions where we set up camp and we make our services available, where our members can come and check their statements, we’ll print their statements for them as well. We’ll check their statements, any gaps we take care of it and handle it for them.

“They can also use that time to update their beneficiaries which is extremely important. A lot of times when workers register for SSNIT, at that time they may not be married or they may have just one child but over the years maybe when they get married or have more children and they forget to come back to SSNIT to update their beneficiaries or in case they pass away”, she said.

Effect of Covid 19 on Establishments

SSNIT said it recognizes the impact of covid-19 pandemic has had on economic activities.

It realizes that such establishments will find it difficult to operate at full capacity and may have liquidity issues which will result in establishments having difficulty to operate at full capacity.

On this note, it has given establishments affected by the pandemic, especially schools and hotels a grace period for them to pay contributions owed.

SSNIT Mobile Service

The SSNIT Mobile Service is an event where SSNIT officers move from their usual locations (the brick and-mortar) and set up at various locations across the country to serve members of the scheme and the public.

This is to

• bring SSNIT services closer to our cherished members.

• provide the opportunity to educate members and the general public about their rights and responsibilities under the scheme.

• encourage members to update their personal data

 • register new members

• achieve member satisfaction
