A resident of Tema Community Seven foiled an attempted robbery at his residence when he poured hot water on the armed robber.On September 21, 2006, the businessman was sleeping in his room when he spotted Daniel Kodi, alias Kwasi Wurawura, trying to force his way into one of the rooms after he and another person, had jumped over the wall into the house.He boiled hot water and lured Kodi to the room by volunteering to open the door for him. When he entered, the businessman poured the hot water on him.At its sitting on Tuesday, the Tema Circuit Court 'A,' presided over by Mrs Lorinda Owusu heard that Kodi fired from the locally manufactured gun he was holding simultaneously as he fell on the ground after the hot water was poured on him.Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Adolphus Otchere, said with the help of neighbours, Kodi was arrested and handed over to the Police called to the scene.The court heard that due to the burns he received from the hot water, he was admitted for medical attention at the Police Hospital, where he managed to escape on
September 28, 2006.Kodi was, however, re-arrested and appeared before the Tema Circuit Court 'B' for escaping lawful custody, and was sentenced to three years imprisonment.Prosecution said Kodi who completed serving his sentence on June 23, 2009 was re-arrested to face his substantive attempted robbery charge.He pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempted robbery, and was remanded into prison custody to re-appear in court on March 23.Source: GNA
