The Ghana Premier League encounter between Medeama SC and Inter Allies has been postponed to allow the Tarkwa side honour their CAF Confederation Cup assignment against Sudanese side Al Ahly Shendi. 

And it's a big deal for the Ghanaian side.

“It will be a tricky game but, of course, we will win it for Ghana. I have been in Ghana for many years and I have done this profession for many years so I know what I’m talking about. This will be our tribute for Ghana if this game will be a fair game,” coach Tom Strand says.

 Any kind of win against Shendi - who reached this stage after edging out Congolese side Saint-Eloi Lupopo 2-2 on away goals - will see the Mauves and Yellows book a place to the next stage following a goalless draw in the first leg last week. Strand believes they have what it takes to do that. 

“There is too much politics in football these days but I am confident we will win. Our aim is to reach the money zone so we are going all out on Wednesday to do what we have to do,” he added.

This is the first time the CAF Condeferations Cup midweek fixtures are coming off but the gaffer still feels ready for action. "When I look at what we did to the other team from Libya, we played in Tunisia and when they came here it was a different game totally, so we hope that we can turn it around here as well in Sekondi." 

"We have the target to win this match and try to qualify to the money zone, we have the material to do this and we have the people behind us to do it, so I think that we can do it with a little bit of luck of course  we can do it."

Formwise, Medeama have not been the best. They were knocked out of the MTN FA Cup Round of 64 and also lost their last Premier League game against Hasaacas but the Swedish trainer is still optimistic.

“My players are good, they have high standards so I believe they will live up to expectation irrespective of what has happened in the past,” he noted.

Medeama have rached this point beating Libyan side Al Ittihad 2-1 on aggregate. 

Shendi (pictured above), meanwhile, have been in Ghana since last Friday and have been training at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra.

A key man for the Sudanese is Ghanaian striker Razak Yakubu but it is their Brazilain coach Heron Ricardo Ferera the local side must fear. "I think Medeama have massive team and we come here to make a good job to try to make one job better than the first match in our home and try to qualify to the next phase. I understand it is a difficult match because Medeama have a quality and strong team and also have power of good fitness but we come here to try and do something.
