CalBank PLC has announced the appointment of Johnson Oware as its Deputy Managing Director, effective January 20, 2025.
With over two decades of distinguished experience in the banking industry, Mr. Oware brings a wealth of expertise across corporate, commercial, retail, and transaction banking.
He has held pivotal roles throughout his career, driving business growth across multiple countries and leading initiatives in digital banking, structured trade, and commodity finance.
In his new position, Mr. Oware will oversee the Bank’s corporate, commercial, and retail operations, guiding CalBank’s growth and expansion efforts.
His proven leadership in credit appraisal, project management, and business development positions him to make a significant impact on the Bank’s strategic objectives.
Before joining CalBank, Mr. Oware served as Head of Corporate Banking at Ecobank Ghana PLC, where he delivered outstanding results across various business segments.
Commenting on the appointment, CalBank’s Board Chairman, Mr. Joe Mensah, stated “We are delighted to welcome Johnson Oware to the CalBank family. As we gear up for significant growth in the years ahead, it is essential to have the right leadership in place to deliver value to our stakeholders.

Mr. Oware holds a BSc in Administration from the University of Ghana, an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester (UK), and a Diploma in Public-Private Partnership from the University of Reading (UK).
