The pitch invader during Black Stars AFCON qualifier against South Africa has been given a police enquiry bail.
Central Regional Police Commander, COP Paul Awuni, told Joy News they will take him through the legal processes to serve as a deterrent and also protect the country's image in terms of security.
Awal Sulemana, 25, who is a resident in Cape Coast was a 400-metre runner during his Senior High Schoo days in Apam Senior High School in the Central region.
The nurse who schooled at the Nalerigu College of Nursing invaded the pitch during the Black Stars 2-0 victory at home against South Africa.
Mr Sulemana who was wearing a Chelsea FC replica jersey outran some security persons in the 74th minute of the match and made his way onto the pitch.
He was given a hot chase and eventually caught by the officials and handed over to the Cape Coast University (UCC) police.
The invader told Joy News that he was running onto the playing field to take a picture with Atletico Madrid star, Thomas Partey, who scored the first goal of the match.
Mr Sulemana’s relatives and friends were spotted at the UCC police station seeking bail for him on Friday morning.
Central Regional Police Commander, COP Paul Awuni, told Joy News they cannot allow Mr Sulemana to go free.
