A circuit court in Sunyani has remanded a 29-year-old Kumasi-based car dealer, Isaac Aryee for defrauding a Sunyani businessman of over 26 million cedis.
The plea of Aryee, charged with fraud, was not taken and he would reappear on August 24.
Chief Inspector Alex Fosu told the court that on June 29,Issaka Yakubu bought an Opel Vectra saloon car at 26.5 million cedis (26,500 Ghana cedis) from the accused in Kumasi.
He said the Customs Exercise and Preventive Service (CEPS) impounded the vehicle in Sunyani after three days because documents covering it were forged.
Mr Yakubu reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested. Aryee told the police that he bought the vehicle from a man who had travelled abroad.
The court also remanded two workers of Adom Company for stealing the steer pot of a bulldozer valued at 120 million cedis (12,000 Ghana cedis) belonging to their employer.
Abdul Karim, 35 and Ibrahim Kwesi Mensah, 55, pleaded guilty with explanation.
Chief Inspector Alex Fosu told the court that the Company had a yard at Tainso near Wenchi where some unserviceable machines such as bulldozers are parked awaiting repairs.
On May 22, a watchman in the yard informed Stephen Annor, the complainant, that Karim had come for one steer pot and had sent it to Sunyani.
When the accused person was confronted, he admitted the offence and said he was sent by Mr. Mensah, the chief mechanic of the company, with the pretext of placing it on another machine.
Mr Annor caused their arrest.
They would reappear on August 13, 2007.
