Three vehicles were involved in a near-fatal accident following what eyewitnesses claimed was an indecision on the part of a traffic warden at the Weija Junction on the Mallam-Kasoa road.
A cargo vehicle belonging to the Kingdom Books and Stationary Limited, a taxi cab and a private saloon car with registration number GR 8760-15 were badly affected in the accident.
Eyewitnesses told Myjoyonline’s David Andoh a policeman on duty directing traffic there should be blamed. He claimed the policeman was controlling traffic in the dark without any warning light (torchlight), a situation which confused a number of the motorists.
According to the driver of the cargo vehicle, he and the driver of the taxi were coming from the Kasoa end of the road but stopped at the traffic light when it turned red.
He said when the light turned green they moved and all of a sudden the private car which has allegedly been allowed by the policeman to jump traffic rammed into the two cars.
Though the accident recorded minor casualties it caused a huge traffic jam on the already busy road.
The police officer accused of causing the accident would not comment on the incident.
