CHAiNT Afrique, the first Sustainability Services Company in the West African Region has partnered with luxury home furnishing retailer, Casa Trasacco to present a design exhibition.
Last Friday’s exhibitions entitled CirculArt featured art made from recycled and sustainable materials and the launch of its EcoRewards app.
The exhibition at the Casa Trasacco store in Accra and will feature works from over 15 local artists with a wine reception, music, artist talk, and introduction of the EcoRewards app.
The app is a digital ecoSystem that will educate and provide incentives to households and communities for circular actions while working with industry to offer consulting services towards greener production.
The CirculArt exhibition title is inspired by the concept of a circular economy which is aimed at avoiding and eliminating waste; encouraging the continual use of resources employing reuse, sharing, repair, refurbishment, remanufacturing and recycling to create a closed-loop system; minimising the use of virgin resources and the creation of waste, pollution and carbon emissions.
The exhibition featured art, furniture and design pieces that utilise recycled and repurposed wood, metal, plastics and functional products to showcase the circular economy in action.
"Africa has the chance to leapfrog into a cleaner, equitable, inclusive and profitable growth with circularity. By presenting the CirculArt exhibition and launching our EcoRewards app, we believe we can make a significant contribution by connecting, informing and inspiring local households and communities.
“This will enable them to adopt sustainable choices while encouraging businesses to recycle, mobilize recycled materials and improve the sustainability of products, equipment and infrastructure," said Venan A. Sondo, Managing Director & Co-Founder of CHAINT Afrique Ltd.
The EcoRewards app will make it possible for tangible benefits to be claimed from positive actions for the environment.
By motivating through monetary reward, actions that conserve nature can be rewarded to ensure that an ecosystem of self-regulated incentives can be developed and sustained over the long term.
The system of bonuses to app users will drive participation as more households see the benefit of being a part of an ecosystem that rewards them for positive actions.
EcoRewards will initially start with rewarding for proper disposal of waste and encouraging recycling, leveraging the mobile phone and internet penetration in Ghana and sub-Saharan Africa.
"Casa Trasacco is the regional agent for some of the top design brands in the world and a leader in providing international quality service and design. We truly believe that a sustainable lifestyle should not be a luxury but should underpin the true essence of prosperity that aligns with balanced care for the environment.
“We are thrilled to make a portion of our 80,000 square foot retail space available to emerging Ghanaian artists and tech entrepreneurs as a platform to promote the inclusivity of a sustainable lifestyle for everyone," says Aldo Manfreda, the COO of Casa Trasacco and co-producer of the CirculArt exhibition.
Following the exhibition launch, there will be five days of additional programming ending on October 23, that will include a children's eco-Art session, film screening, Sustainable Fashion show, and panel discussion on further advancing a circular economy in Ghana and the West African Region.
