The Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. Charles G. Palmer-Buckle, has called on the youth to strive to be self-disciplined and self motivated to reach greater heights. "A person who is self-disciplined has self control and is surely motivated to succeed. in life," he added. Archbishop Palmer-Buckle gave the advice at the 27th graduation ceremony of the Catholic Social Advance Institute (CSAI). It was on the theme: "Challenges of Educating the Youth in Private Day Schools" At the event, 163 students graduated. He said obedience was the key to success and that they must be self-controlled and self-disciplined wherever they C found themselves. "Wisdom is the art of correct social living that is acquired at the feet of wise men and women," he said. The Principal of the school, a Ms Ann Boakye Ansah, said the school, which was formerly known as 'Social Advance Institute (SAl), started as a vocational and commercial school. The CSAI, she said, was a private institution set up by Dr Helga Kleinkowski, a German II social worker to train young women adequately to become gainfully employed or self employed. The school has a population of 454 and runs five courses in General Arts, Business, Vocational Studies, Secretaryship, Catering and Fashion Design. She stressed the need for the formation of an old students association to motivate the continuing students. Ms Ansah appealed to the Ministry of Education to assist the school with a computer laboratory, a library with modern research books and a school bus to enhance teaching and learning short courses such as dressmaking and secretaryship would be introduced in the school in the near future. The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Mr Fritz Baffour , pledged to donate five brand new computers and books to be school's library. He said they were many challenges in the society such as pains and sorrow and that the outgoing students were needed desperately to change that challenge.
