The Coalition for Democratic Forces (CDF) has with immediate effect, withdrawn a request for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), to investigate NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
The Coalition which wrote to CHRAJ in March to investigate Mr. Asiedu Nketiah for conflict of interest in his dealings with the Bui Power Authority (BPA), has in a statement said it is withdrawing the request in order to protest against what it termed “President Mills’ unwillingness to deal with corruption, hypocrisy, insult, deception and lies that is being institutionalized in his government”.
Below is the full text of the statement:
PRESS RELEASE
28th July, 2011
The Commissioner
Commission on Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ)
Dear Madam,
Withdrawal of request to investigate Mr. Asiedu Nketiah-Protest against gov’t
With reference to the request sent to your high office as contained in a letter dated 4th March, 2011 and titled, ‘Request to investigate Mr. Asiedu Nketia on Conflict of Interest’, I wish to inform you of our decision to withdraw the request made.
The request brought in the name of the Coalition for Democratic Forces was in relation to a possible conflict of interest situation arising out of the supply of cement blocks to the Bui Development Authority by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the General Secretary of the NDC and also a Board Member of the Authority.
This withdrawal is a protest against prof. Mills unwillingness to deal with corruption, hypocrisy, insult, deception and lies that is being institutionalized in his government.
On behalf of the Coalition for Democratic Forces, I therefore ask that you discontinue with the request made.
Thank You
Yours faithfully,
Michael Omari Wadie
