Mr Issifu Salisu Be-awuribe, President’s nominee for the post of Central Gonja District Chief Executive (DCE) was on Thursday approved by the Assembly in a second round of voting.Mr. Salisu Be-awuribe polled 22 votes out of 32 ballots cast to be approved as the District Chief Executive.In the first round held 10 days earlier, he did not obtain the required two-thirds majority votes.In his acceptance speech, Mr. Salisu Be-awuribe gave the assurance that he would work very hard to carry the development agenda forward to justify the confidence reposed in him.He said he respected the decision of members and that he would run an open administration and called on all assembly members to rally behind him to develop the place.“I would treat everyone at the assembly as a winner and I would remain loyal to all to ensure that we co-exist in unity, peace and brotherliness,” he said.Mr. Stephen Sumani Nayina, Northern Regional Minister, appealed to members of the Assembly to put the past behind and rally behind the DCE so that the region would receive the needed development.He commended the Assembly for approving the nominee and called for peace and unity, which he said were the hallmarks of development.Source: GNA
