Police in the Central Region have denied ever beating a 13-year-old boy to pulp.

They are accusing the family of the alleged assault victim of telling lies to tarnish the image of the police.

The police are also accusing the residents who claimed to have  seen the assault of peddling falsehood.

Isaac Botwe was beaten to pulp, handcuffed and left on the streets by five Police officers two weeks ago.

He was accused by the officers of being part of the youth fomenting trouble in the community.

A neighbour, Kweku Darkwa, who also witnessed the incident feared the boy will be unable to go to school after the abuse.

He said ever since the incident occurred two weeks ago the young boy wanted to go to school but has been unable to and was expecting members of the police administration to come and pay him a visit but nobody too has come.

But Central Region Police Commander DCOP Moses Ninson has blamed the boy's predicament on epilepsy and elephantiasis.

When we went we were trying to get the boy we not getting him and so we traced the parents and got to the father.

He said the father claimed they had sent the boy to Ahmadayiya Clinic but when they went there officials of the clinic said nobody had been sent there.

Now the father said the boy had been sent to a herbal clinic but he will not say which herbal clinic the boy had been sent.

The other side of the case is that the boy we hear is an epileptic patient and at the same time has elephantiasis and it is not that the police injured anybody.

When his attention was drawn to the fact that residents in the area saw the police beating boy he said the residents made the story up and suspects those residents were part of the chieftaincy faction in the area.
