Personnel of the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), in Tamale, at the weekend donated 50 student mattresses valued at GH¢150.00 to the Tamale Central Hospital and Shekina Clinic.
Thirty of the mattresses were given to the Tamale Central hospital and 20 to Shekina clinic.
Mr. Ernest Frimpong-Nuamah, Assistant Commissioner of CEPS in-charge-of the Northern Region, who presented the items said the donation was in response to the deplorable condition patients admitted to the hospital found themselves.
He said the gesture was part of CEPS social obligation to communities in which they work.
Mr Frimpong-Nuamah called for the co-operation of the public to enable the Service to discharge its duties effectively.
He commended Dr. Patrick Bampoe, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, for his selfless dedication to duty, and called on other health workers to emulate his example.
Dr. Bampoe thanked the CEPS for the assistance and requested other benevolent organisations to come to the aid of the hospital.
