The Black Galaxies of Ghana played out a 0-0 stalemate with Algeria in their penultimate friendly game on Saturday, January 7, ahead of the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The game which was played at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers was Annor Walker's side's first encounter since arriving in Algeria to continue their preparations.
After just 25 minutes of play, Ghana was forced to make an early substitution as Sylvester Simba took the place of their skipper Gladson Awako, who had to go out due to an injury.
Algeria took possession of the scenario, controlling and testing the Black Galaxies. David Abagna, Dominic Nsobila, and Solomon Adomako had the bright spots for the Black Galaxies.
Neither of the teams was able to find an opener in the opening 45 minutes of the game but it was Algeria who had the better of possession and threatened on most occasions. But the Black Galaxies were on hand to prevent any threats.
Abdul Razak was replaced by Kwame Otu with five minutes left, but the Black Galaxies were unable to get past the industrious Algerian defence.
Prior to the CHAN tournament in 2022, Ghana will meet Mozambique in a pre-CHAN friendly.
Ghana will make a record-breaking fourth CHAN appearance after appearing in the competition in Cote D'Ivoire, Sudan, and South Africa in 2009, 2011, and 2014, respectively.
