Ghana’s Black Galaxies are set for a defining moment as they face Nigeria in the second leg of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier today at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
With the first leg in Accra ending goalless, the Galaxies are confident in their ability to deliver a decisive performance on Nigerian soil.
Head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has rallied his team, expressing optimism about their readiness to secure a spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
"We created far more chances in the first leg and were unlucky not to score," Dramani said ahead of the match. "Saturday is another opportunity to get the goals and book our place in the CHAN finals. We are ready for the challenge."
The Black Galaxies have a history of delivering under pressure, particularly against Nigeria. In their last CHAN qualifier two years ago, Ghana triumphed 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 aggregate draw, securing an unforgettable victory in Abuja.
This history of resilience serves as a source of inspiration for the team.
A scoring draw or a win will see Ghana progress to the CHAN finals, and the Galaxies are well-prepared for the task.
Despite the threat posed by a could-be partisan home crowd, Dramani’s side remains unfazed. "We know what is at stake, and we have the quality to overcome any challenge," the coach added.
