Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has responded to recent reports claiming that over 137,000 Senior High School students are yet to report to school despite gaining admission.
According to the group's President, Nana Amoh Amankwahim, the reports were based on unverified information, and that he had been misreported.
“The statement was unverified before it was made public. The figure given was not correct because, I wasn’t referring to the Western North alone but nationwide. So before information is made public, please confirm from the person first.”
In an interview with Adom News, he urged all students who have not yet reported to school to do so as soon as possible.
Out of the large number of students who gained admission, 11,989 have reported to their respective schools, representing 82% of the target enrolment of 14,558 students.
Mr. Amankwah urged students and parents not to be discouraged from reporting to school by the requirements outlined in the prospectus.
In addition, Mr. Amankwah stated that the government has made a provision of basic items which would be given to the students.
“We have not closed admissions and moreover most of the students want to get new items before reporting to school. Government has provided mattresses so parents who cannot buy the students mattress for their wards should not worry. Whatever things that you’ve been able to buy from the list is enough, so I plead with you to report to school.”
