English Premier League side Chelsea are wary of rushing back Michael Essien from long-term injury.
Essien, 29, has missed the whole campaign with a serious knee injury sustained at the start of pre-season training in July.
The Ghana international played 75 minutes for the reserves against West Brom yesterday but is well short of match fitness and is unlikely to feature in the senior side until next month.
