Nana Kwansiafam Appianin Broni, 52, Akwamuhene of Asankare Traditional Area and his four-year-old daughter, Mabel Appianin were pronounced dead on arrival at the Juaso District Hospital after they were involved in a road accident at the outskirt of Asankare near Atwedie in the Asante Akim South District on Monday.Three other persons on board the vehicle, Georgina Nsiah Broni, wife of Nana Appianin and Kwame Appianin, his son were rushed to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital for further treatment, while Amadu Haruna, a labourer whose service had been engaged by the deceased to work on his farm was however treated and discharged.Nana Appianin and his family were said to be on their way to their farm when the accident occurred.Haruna, who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said while on their way to the farm at Asankare in a Tico taxi cab with registration number GW 6733X around 8am, the driver went past a junction they were supposed to have branched.He said when his attention was drawn he decided to make a U-turn in the middle of the highway.In the process a Suzuki Romeo 4x4 with registration number GR 8765 U suddenly emerged and crashed the side of the taxi, forcing it to somersault several times.Superintendent Francis Agrippa Oppong, District Police Commander who confirmed the accident to the GNA said the Tico driver had been taken into custody to assist the Police in their investigations.Source: GNA
