Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, National Chief Imam has congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for assuming the Executive position of the country and asked for Allah’s protection and guidance for him.
He also sought Allah’s blessing for the Head of State so that he would be instilled with the essential qualities required in steering the affairs “of our great nation Ghana”.
This was contained in a statement issued by Alhaji Khuzalima Mohammed Osman, Personal Assistant to the Chief Imam in Accra on Tuesday and copied to the Ghana News Agency.
“I would like to use this golden opportunity to remind you that after taking the Oath of Allegiance during your inaugural ceremony, you are now the President of the Republic of Ghana and not for any political party.
“Hence, your government should be all-inclusive and aimed at uniting the entire nation after the December (7) General Election,” the statement said.
It expressed the hope that President Mahama’s tenure in office would effect change the current nature of politics “so as to leave a lasting legacy for all”.
“Your predecessors have done extremely well in improving the living conditions of the people, but I think you have more and greater opportunities to make Ghana a wonderful country in Africa.
“I am keenly following up with great interest and admiration all the progress and developmental efforts you are making in improving the lives and welfare of our people.
“I will not relent in my efforts and prayers in ensuring that Ghana remains the most peaceful country and a beacon of hope and democratic credentials on the entire continent of Africa, “the statement said.
It described the Chief Imam as the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Ghana as well as the Founder and Chairman of the Islamic Peace and Security of Ghana.
