Nana Kwesi Takyi II, Chief of Wassa Dwinase has appealed to the Mpohor-Wassa-East District Assembly and authorities of Department of Feeder Roads for assistance to rehabilitate roads in the area that had been affected by the rains.
He said some communities in the district had been cut-off from the rest of the country as a result of torrential rains in the area for the past few weeks.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Daboase at the weekend, Nana Takyi said foodstuffs and other crops were being destroyed on farms because vehicles could not ply the roads affecting the income of food and cash crop farmers.
Mr Anthony E. Amoah, Member for Parliament for Mpohor and Western Regional Minister attributed the deplorable nature of the road network to increase in the rainfall pattern of the area.
He said although most of the roads in the area had been awarded on contract, the contractors could not move to site due to the incessant rains and urged the people to exercise restraint.
Mr Amoah said Daboase-Dwinase-Ayiem-Mpohor main roads had been completed while the Eshiem-Manso, Mpohor Adum-Banso roads had been awarded on contract.
He said Ankaako-Atobiase and Dormama roads would be awarded on contract soon to boost the tourism potentials in the area.
Mr Amoah said Western and Central Regional Coordinating Councils, were collaborating to undertake joint road projects to enhance the movement of goods and services.
