Member of Parliament (MP) for Achiase, Kofi Ahenkorah-Marfo has expressed concern over the threat posed by chieftaincy disputes to the peace and stability in the Eastern Region.
According to him, the chieftaincy disputes may be a contributing factor to creating instability in the region, which can hinder development.
Mr. Ahenkorah-Marfo stated that the ongoing chieftaincy disputes have created uncertainty about who is responsible for overseeing and implementing development projects in the region.

“We know that if government wants to assist us with development, we need the leaders to supervise the projects so it is successful but if there are issues between them, then no one can supervise the projects and this has delayed a lot of projects in the communities.”
After 12 years of conflict, the Achiase chieftaincy dispute, which had caused division and hindered development in the region, has finally been resolved.
"By God’s grace today, through myself, my DCE, my pastor as well as some authorities, the issue has been solved. I know that this will bring about developments in the community."
The Queenmother of Achiase, Nana Akosua Darkoaa III expressed her gratitude to all those who worked to bring about the resolution of the chieftaincy dispute.

She urged all women in the community to embrace peace and work together to build a better future for the community as the issue has been resolved.
“So now, we all have to live in peace. If there is any problem somewhere, it should be brought before me so I can discuss it with the leaders. I thank everyone who helped to settle this dispute.”
