Nkawkaw — An unemployed, Isaac Boamah alias Aki Moses 26, has been arrested by the Kade Police for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl at Akyem Bomso in the Kwaebibrem District of the Eastern Region.
According to the report, the victim's mother left her for farm on May 6th this year and returned late in the evening to see the little girl very weak.
When the mother decided to bath her, she found out that the lower abdomen and the private part of the girl were swollen.
When the mother questioned the girl, she mentioned Boamah as the cause of her predicament. The mother then reported the case to the Kade Police who issued a medical form for them to attend hospital.
The doctor's report confirmed that the victim had actually been defiled.
Boamah who had absconded was later arrested the following day by the police led by the Kade District Police Commander, Mr. Wisdom Akorli.
Boamah admitted the offence at the Police Station and accused the devil of leading him into that act.
In a related development, the Ghana News Agency has reported that Lance Corporal Abdul Rahaman Issah of Ho is in custody at the Regional Police Headquarters for defiling a 13-year-old junior high school pupil.
Briefing the media Mr Samuel Ellis Gakpe, father of the girl, said last Sunday his daughter asked for money to trim her hair before school re-opened on Monday.
He said she took the money and left home before noon for the barbering saloon near the Ho Central Police Station.
Mr Gakpe said at about his daughter was not back and after sometime he left for his house as he was living separately from his wife and daughter.
Mr Gakpe said about some few minutes to 9:00 pm, his wife called him and asked him to come and that their daughter was back and was not looking well. He said he told her it was late and that he would come the following day and went early Monday morning to see the girl in a "mess."
Mr Gakpe said their daughter told them that a policeman who had met her the day before called her and demanded that she join him in his car to show her his residence before coming back to the saloon. He said the policeman took her to his house in the SSNIT Flats and switched on the television for her. After sometime, she asked to be allowed to leave but the policeman locked the door, tied her hands at her back and in an attempt to throw her on the bed she struggled with him resulting in the breakage of two louver blades.
The girl said the policeman threw her onto the bed and defiled her, staining the bed sheet. He then asked her to wash the bed sheet while he went to take his bath with the door still locked. After she had finished washing the bed sheet, the policeman opened the door and dropped her at the barbering shop in the evening.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Augustine Dogbega in charge of Volta Regional Office of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Police Service confirmed the story and said the unit was investigating and would soon begin prosecution.
