The Chinese mining company that was blamed for the death of three miners at Gbane in the Talensi District of the Upper East region has denied responsibility. The three miners were reported to have died after they were trapped in a mining pit belonging to Shanxii Mining Company. But at a news conference, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the mining company, Maxwell Wooma, told journalists the allegations are mischievous and unfortunate.“Our company is still oblivious of which particular pit or pits [the victims] entered into. Since the occurrence of this mishap, there has been no reports to our company about anyone entering our pits and being gassed”, the PRO stated. He said the Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, visited the site on Wednesday 29th May, to assess the situation but the galamsey operators could not identify which pit the victims entered into.Joy News’ Upper East regional correspondent, Albert Sore said the regional police commander, Alex Quainoo confirmed the incident. The three people were rushed to the hospital but they died after a few hours later.
