The Managing Director of Chucatel Ghana Ltd Mr. Mohammed Alhassan Gomda has praised INTERPOL -Ghana for leading the process to recover his company's drilling rig which was unlawfully taken to Cote d'Ivoire by one Jean-Jacques Datte.

Mr. Datte entered into an agreement with Chucatel Ghana to use the drilling rig to drill 30 boreholes in certain communities in Cote d'Ivoire but he unlawfully kept the drill rig for over 3years in  Cote d'Ivoire.

Speaking to the media in Accra Mr Mohammed GOMDA who signed the agreement on behalf of his organisation disclosed that it became clear Jean-Jacques Datte  and his African Solutions company of Cote d'Ivoire were determined to criminally take possession of a machine that was not theirs.

He said when efforts to retrieve the drill machine failed, the matter was reported to the Cantonments Police and subsequently to Interpol-Accra since the case involved nationals of another country who were nowhere to be found.

A warrant of arrest was issued by the Circuit Court in Accra in July 2015 for the arrest of Jean-Jacques Datte of Yopougon-Abidjan and also to impound and repatriate the drilling rig.

Detective Corporal Alhaji Ali Ganaini of Interpol Accra who was detailed to handle the matter has also received profound commendations by the management of Chucatel -Ghana for traveling to Cote d'Ivoire to handle the case with Interpol Cote d'Ivoire leading to the recovery of the drill machine.

According to managers of Chucatel Ghana, the matter needed high professionalism in Cote d'Ivoiree  and detective Corporal Alhaji Ali Ganani did his work competently with due diligence.

The drilling rig has arrived in Ghana through the help of Interpol Ghana and management of Chucatel Ghana Ltd is to commence fresh case against Jean Jacques Datte to compel him to honour the agreement between Chucatel and African Solutions of Cote D' ivoire.

Mr Alhassan GOMDA cautioned Ghanaian business to do extra due diligence  when entering into agreements with foreigners persons and foreign firms.

He said Datte didn't pay his company a penny for using their drill rig for three years, denying the company huge sums of money.
