The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has resolved to sustain the campaign against homosexuality and lesbianism in the country.
Reverend Augustine Sekyi, second Minister of the Koforidua District of the church, called on all Christians, Muslims and traditional authorities to join the fight against practices that could destroy the youth.
He was delivering the sermon at an all-night service at the Ascension Congregation of the PCG at Koforidua during the weekend.
Rev. Sekyi said it was unfortunate that some human rights activists continued to defend homosexuality and lesbianism and cautioned Ghanaians not to entertain such practices.
He stressed that “Some people who should know better are supporting homosexuality and lesbianism, thereby, encouraging those engaging in such practices.”
Rev. Sakyi said the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah as told in the Holy Bible was real, maintaining that God would not spare any country or community that would practice homosexuality or lesbianism.
He called on religious organisations and the government to collectively condemn such practices before the situation gets out of hand.
Rev. Sakyi appealed to Christians to refrain from worldly things and seek the kingdom of God and its righteousness first so that all other things would be added unto them.
Recently, the PCG condemned homosexuality and lesbianism, describing such acts as unbiblical, alien to Africans, abnormal and filthy and should not be tolerated in the country.
The Koforidua District Minister of the PCG, Rev. Godfred Asante Bamfo, advised parents to encourage their children to study the Bible regularly to enable them to embrace Christian values.
He said the all-night service that was introduced in 2010, was being observed quarterly and that the recent event attracted more than 3,000 Christians from the New Juaben Municipality and beyond.
Rev. Bamfo appealed to Christians to pray ceaselessly in order not to be swayed by the devil.
He led the congregation in prayers, deliverance and healing service.
