Very Reverend James Kofi Mensah, Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church, Ghana, has urged Churches to encourage mass weddings to beat down the cost of contracting marriages in the Church.
He noted that currently, only a few people could afford weddings in the Church because of the high cost involved.
Very Rev. Mensah gave the advice at a mass wedding involving 9 couples at the Wesley Methodist Church at Bisease in the Cape Coast Diocese of the Church.
Rev. Mensah said marriage guidance and counselling unit has been established by the Bisease Circuit of the Church to encourage married couples to bless their marriages as required by the Church's constitution.
He said the youth would be encouraged to stay away from immorality if weddings were made affordable to them.
Very Rev. Mensah, assisted by Rev. Samuel Bassaw, a Circuit Minister, also blessed the marriages of five Church elders
