Mr Tom Budu, the Akyemansa District Chief Executive, has appealed to religious leaders to remind and encourage their members to make themselves available during the national population and housing census. He said the exercise was important because it would help the government gather information for effective planning, policy formulation and participatory decision-making. Mr Budu was speaking at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the District Assembly at Akyem-Ofoase. He stated that the Assembly, through its share of the Common Fund, had undertaken many projects mainly in the areas of social developments, administration and the environment. Mr Budu added that soon documentation of parcels of land earmarked for a hospital at Abenase, office and residential accommodation at Ofoase and market at Ofoase Kuma would be completed. He expressed appreciation to the chiefs and elders of the District for releasing land and devoting their time for the development of the district. The District Chief Executive said 300 sewn school uniforms received by the district had been distributed to needy school children in deprived communities, adding that another batch of 2,000 cut materials for school uniforms had been given out to 27 tailors and seamstresses for sowing and these would be distributed in September.
