Former AIDS Ambassador Joyce Dzidzor Mensah is being held at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
Mrs. Mensah confirmed to Joy News’ Fred Smith on Thursday that she was invited by the police CID for questioning this morning.
It is not clear what prompted her invitation and what the CID would be soliciting from her.
Head of Public Relations at the CID ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwa has also confirmed to Joy News that his outfit is currently holding her.
Joyce Mensah late last year shocked the nation when she made a mindboggling revelation that she was not an HIV/AIDS patient contrary to her earlier claim which got her appointed as an AIDS Ambassador by the Ghana AIDS Commission. She rose to fame riding on the back of her believed HIV status.
The Ghana AIDS Commission has since countered claims by the famous HIV campaigner that she has never tested HIV positive.
Many, including a former Deputy Minister of Children, Gender and Social Protection Rachael Adwoa Appoh called on the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to step into the raging controversy between the Ghana Aids Commission and Joyce Dzidzor Mensah.
“There seems to be a hidden truth in what all parties in the case are bringing out…and this truth can only be unraveled by the security agencies, hence I am calling on them to take the issue up for investigation…,” she said.
