Black Stars coach Claude Le Roy is expected to name his squad for the Ghana-Nigeria game by the weekend.
The Frenchman is widely expected to welcome back into the squad his preferred central defensive pair of John Mensah and Shilla Illiasu.
The two players who Le Roy regards as the best central defensive partnership in the world missed the last match against Australia as a result of injuries.
Ghana will name a squad of around 20 players to play the Super Eagles of Nigeria on February 6 in London.
Meanwhile Le Roy has told Joy Sports that he will have to leave regular Black Stars members Asamoah Gyan and Haminu Dramani out of his squad as the two have been invited for duty with the national Olympic team.
The two players qualify to play for the national Under 23 team. The Meteors are slated to play an Olympic Games qualifier against Cote D’Ivoire within the week that the Black Stars play Nigeria.
In a related development, Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen has named a squad full of experienced and highly talented internationals to face the Black Stars.
Strikers Nwankwo Kanu, Obafemi Martins, Yakubu Ayigbeni, and midfielder Wilson Oruma as well as Joseph Yobo are some of the vastly experienced players who have been invited.
Michael Essien’s club mate, John Mikel Obi as well John Mensah’s Rennes club mate John Utaka have also been called up into the Super Eagles squad.
Six out of the 20 Super Eagles players play in England.
