The national leadership of Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOSAG) says it cannot restrain regional branches from embarking on industrial action. CLOSAG in the Northern region has declared an indefinite strike over the delayed placement of civil servants on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS). There are fears other regions may follow suit unless there are positive signs to migrate them onto the SSSS. First National Trustee of CLOSAG, Kwame Asamoah-Dwomoh, told Luv FM the regional branches are semi-autonomous in taking certain decisions in the interest of local members. He is only hoping the ongoing negotiations with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission will be fast-tracked to curtail the industrial action.
