National leaders of the Civil and Local Government staff Association are expressing fear an indefinite strike embarked upon by members of the group in the Northern Region could spread across the country.
Executive Secretary of the Association, Isaac Bampoe–Addo wants authorities to act swiftly to avert the consequences.
CLOSAG members in the Northern region are on an indefinite strike to protest delays in their migration onto the single spine salary structure.
On Wednesday, Joy FM’s Northern Regional correspondent Mahama Shaibu reported the strike has received mixed response.
According to him, a few of the workers were at work contrary to the directive from the regional executives, but the others were on sit-down strike.
The Northern Regional Secretary of CLOSAG, Ali Anafu told Joy News the strike has been successful thus far.
He said as a human institution it was expected that some people will ignore the directive from the executives.
Anafu said they will remain on strike until they receive definite information from the Fair Wages and Salary Commission on when they will be migrated onto the single spine salary structure.
He accused the Commission of playing “delay tactics” with CLOSAG over the new pay policy.
