Lawyer for the embattled police chief who has been shuttled in and out of BNI custody over the controversial cocaine swap is ready to return to court to challenge the continued detention of his the immediate release of his client.
DSP Gifty Tehoda was rearrested by the BNI on Friday after weeks of detention but was granted bail on Thursday by a Human Rights Court.
The BNI had indicated that DSP Tehoda was a key suspect in the saga and will want to question her further.
But her lawyer Oliver Dzebleh in an interview with Joy News said the detention is illegal.
“I maintain my position that if she is being arrested and held on the same ground then it will be illegal,” he noted.
He said he will still maintain his application in court if it is the case that she was arrested on the same charge.
Asked if he had spoken to his client, he said “I don’t have access to her.”
