Key national issues, including Ghana’s cocoa sector challenges, alleged complicity in illegal mining, and concerns over election credibility, will take centre stage on the upcoming edition of Newsfile on JoyNews and Joy FM.
The programme, hosted by Samson Lardy Anyenini, will air on Saturday, 14 February 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon.

This week’s topic — “Cocoa Crisis, Galamsey Complicity, Election Credibility – Ghana at the Crossroads?” — signals what is expected to be a high-level policy and accountability discussion.
The discussion will feature a cross-section of public officials, policy analysts, and political figures.
Among them is Dr. Randy Abbey, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), at a time when Ghana’s cocoa sector is grappling with debt, pricing and the inability of the government to pay farmers.
Also joining the panel is Vera Abena Addo, Programmes Officer at CDD-Ghana, whose expertise spans elections, rule of law and anti-corruption.
Former Member of Parliament and former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Inusah Fuseini, is also expected to provide insights, particularly on governance and natural resource management.
Cocoa farmer perspectives will be represented by Nana Aduna II, spokesperson for the Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association, and CEO of Ohene Cocoa Ltd.
From the media, Isaac Kofi Agyei, Head of Research at JoyNews, will contribute analytical perspectives, while Michael Kwasi Aidoo, Member of Parliament for Oforikrom and Deputy Ranking Member on the Youth and Sports Committee, will bring a parliamentary lens to the discussion.
Also on the panel is Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a constitutional rights and policy strategy advocate with Democracy Hub.
Newsfile, one of Ghana’s longest-running current affairs programmes, is known for shaping public discourse through policy-focused debates and fact-driven analysis.
Saturday’s edition is anticipated to provide an in-depth examination of whether Ghana stands at a turning point in addressing governance, environmental protection and democratic accountability.
The programme will be broadcast live on JoyNews and Joy FM and affiliated platforms from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
