The Board of Directors of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has resolved not to receive any sitting allowances for the remainder of the 2025/2026 cocoa season as part of efforts to support ongoing reforms in the sector.

In a public notice issued by the Board, it said the decision is a demonstration of commitment to strengthening the long-term sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa industry.

According to the statement, board members will forgo their sitting allowances for the rest of the season in support of measures aimed at restoring stability and confidence within the cocoa value chain.

The Board indicated that the move reflects a commitment to prudent financial management, shared sacrifice and responsible leadership as COCOBOD undertakes critical reforms to address recent challenges in the sector.

It further reiterated its dedication to enhancing efficiency, promoting accountability, and safeguarding the livelihoods of cocoa farmers.

The notice also said that the Board will continue working collaboratively with the government and other stakeholders to secure a resilient and sustainable future for Ghana’s cocoa industry.
