Mr. Isaac Osei, Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, last Saturday took a giant step towards achieving his ambition of becoming the NPP parliamentary candidate for Subin Constituency in the December polls, when he filed his nomination forms at the party's constituency office.
The short ceremony, which was held on a quiet note, was graced by some party faithful and a section of the constituency executives led by the Chairman, Alhaji Baba Abdulai.
Addressing the gathering after paying the 1,000 Ghana cedis filing fee and submitting all required documents, Mr. Osei admonished delegates of the party to cast their votes based on the track records of the aspirants.
The former Ghana Ambassador to the UK stressed that parliamentary duties needed to be performed diligently to move the country forward, hence the need for the delegates to vote for someone who had a perfect track record to suggest that he could do the job when given the nod.
"Parliamentary duties, as important as they are in developing the country, cal1 for someone who has shown in the past that he is competent, God-fearing and hardworking, who when given the nod can do it this time too."
He contended that the delegates would do the party and for that matter the country a great disservice if they voted for someone without scrutinizing his background to determine whether he was competent enough and ready to do the job.
The COCOBOD CEO stated that he was miles ahead of his challengers, who he described as his younger brothers in terms of track record, experience and competence, adding that he was also wel1 prepared for parliamentary duties, therefore the delegates should massively give him their mandate.
"To become a Member of Parliament (MP), you need to have a broad view of Ghana and not your constituency alone, so that you can contribute effectively to formulating good laws to rapidly transform the country. And in terms of this, I can boldly say that I am tried and tested and when given the mandate will do the job to the admiration of delegates and the constituents who are sending me to represent them in Parliament."
Mr. Osei assured constituents of a decorous campaign devoid of personal attacks to help promote party unity, insisting that the impending election was a crucial one which called for a united front to ensure massive victory for the party.
He urged his fellow aspirants to be circumspect whilst campaigning to avert factionalism in the party, noting that it was only in unity and one accord that the party could retain the presidential seat and increase its seats in Parliament.
Mr. Osei showered praises on the outgoing MP of the area for his good works which he said had helped raised the status of Subin Constituency, promising to continue from where Hon S.K. Boafo would leave of.
On his vision for the constituency, the aspiring MP promised to implement effective mechanisms and lobby for developmental projects for the constituency, so as to provide employment for the teeming unemployed youth in the country.
As MP, Mr. Osei would team up with his colleague MPs in the region so that collectively, they would assist one another to rapidly transform the Ashanti Region into a safe haven for residents.
In his succinct remarks, the Campaign Manager of Mr. Osei, Mr. Frederick Amponsah, described the COCOBOD CEO as a visionary, hardworking, patriotic, God-fearing and down-to-earth person who had chalked uncountable successes at every outfit that he had worked with.
Alhaji Baba Abdulai, the Constituency Chairman, after receiving the forms, reiterated the need for the aspirants to shun abusive language in their campaigns, and stressed that the party needed peace and unity for victory in the upcoming general elections.
