Ghanaian-Liberian comedian Michael Blackson says 'Coming to America 2', the sequel to one of the most popular African American movies, will be one of the best movies to ever hit cinemas.
In an interview with Hitz FM's Kady he said it could be bigger than the Marvel superhero blockbuster Black Panther if Covid-19 does not affect the release.
Michael Blackson, who is a cast member, stated that the sequel will attract a lot of older audiences who enjoyed watching 'Coming to America' when it was first released in 1988.
It will also attract audiences as young as 15 who later discovered the first film or are enthusiastic about seeing a movie with their favourite celebrities, he added.
"The movie has a 31-year history so we can have audiences from 60-year-olds to 15 years olds. So everyone's going to the movies to see this film. So it is going to be very big," he told Kady.
Michael Blackson he added that the casts are not allowed to talk much about the movie, however, urged people to look out for it.
Coming to America 2 is set to hit cinemas on December 17 2020. The comedy film is directed by Craig Brewer, from a screenplay by David Sheffield, Barry W. Blaustein and Kenya Barris, based on characters created by Eddie Murphy.
The film stars Murphy, Michael Blackson, Davido, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos, Tracy Morgan, Wesley Snipes and James Earl Jones.
Originally to be theatrically released by Paramount Pictures, the film's distribution rights were sold to Amazon Studios due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which will release it digitally on Prime Video on December 18, 2020.
