Chairman of Fufuo Unit Committee who survived after a wall collapsed on him says he was saved by divine intervention.
Kwame Donkor’s colleague, Owusu Bempah, died in the accident which occurred when they were engaged in a communal work to demolish a weak school block.
The Unit committee chairman was however treated and discharged at the Barekese Health Center while the other victim was referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Mr. Donkor tells Nhyira Fm events leading up to the tragedy can hardly be explained.
He says committee members abandoned an earlier plan to demolish the abandoned mud structure from the base instead of the top for safety reasons.
The dilapidated structure, hitherto, was a death trap for pupils of the local primary school, forcing the district education directorate to complain to traditional authorities.
The educational authorities, therefore, instructed that the structure; constructed in the early 40s should be demolished.

The late Owusu Bempah
However, at the family house of the late committee member, relatives and loved ones clad in red and black attire continue to grief over his shocking demise.
The news of Owusu Bempah’s death sent his mother in-law into a coma.
Family spokesperson and an uncle, Nana Agyemang Badu says the family has lost a selfless man who did all he could for others.
Bempah was the committee’s treasurer, choirmaster of the local Catholic Church and its Zonal Secretary of the choir Union.
His surviving wife, Diana Owusu who is 5-months pregnant told Nhyira News amid tears, that her late husband died a selfless man who sacrificed everything for others.
Bempah had just returned from his cocoa farm with fermented cocoa beans ready to be dried when he headed over to assist with the community work.
