The latest to join the growing list of institutions providing hire-purchase services, the Consumer Finance Company, says it is out to “satisfy the lifestyle needs of the average Ghanaian worker” by providing easy to afford general electronic and other household appliances.Branch Manager Andy Owusu-Achaw says CFC will ease the burden and pressure on Ghanaians by providing consumer durables at good credit terms of over 36 months.Items available in CFC’s showroom include microwaves, fridges, DVD Players, T.V sets, washing machines etc, and participating clients are allowed use of the products before the finish paying.Owned by SSNIT and the Bayport Group of Mauritius, CFC like other credit service providers does not deduct more than 35% of net salary. According to Owusu-Achaw, the use of cash in acquiring essential household needs is a burden on many families, who have to also take care of equally burdensome requirements of paying utility bills and school fees.“… therefore there is the need to encourage the use of credit based services such as what my company is offering.”In the western world, many families and individuals’ use of credit based services and terms to survive and the introduction of these services in Ghana is very welcome as it will help young workers especially to acquire the needed appliances for their homes.CFC started full operations just a couple of weeks ago with a marketing campaign that has introduced their services to a large number of people and the response they’ve received so far looks good.With only one branch currently at Dzorwulu, Owusu- Achaw says they are hoping to open a new branch in Osu soon.To pick up an item from the CFC, you only require three (3) recent pay slips, two (2) passport size photos, an ID card and an endorsement of your form by your head of department.On average, it takes four (4) days to have your application processed.Source: dailyEXPRESS
