The police have said when cases are reported to them it is not the prerogative of the complainants to decide how long suspects should be kept in cells or decide whether or not criminal cases should be sent to court or not. Assistant Superintendent of Police Jordan Quaye, Winneba District Commander, said this in a statement he issued in Winneba on Tuesday. He said it is "strictly what the law indicates" that the police would follow and therefore urged the public to leave the police alone to do their work when cases are reported to them. Mr Quaye urged the people in the area to stop blaming the police for sending cases to court. He said when cases are reported to the police and investigations have established that the suspects have committed an offence the case would definitely have to be sent to court. “The police, victim or the accused person cannot decide to drop a case.”Source: GNA
