A group of religious leaders calling itself the Concerned Clergy of Ghana has descended on the member of parliament for Assin North, calling on him to apologise on comments he made about pastors on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem last Friday.
The outspoken MP described members of the clergy as enemies of progress.
The MP alleged that some pastors in the country are deceiving and manipulating the mentality of Ghanaians and called on stakeholders to urgently address the problem.
Mr. Agyapong said pastors have been extorting money from the poor Ghanaians to enrich themselves rather than concentrating on the salvation of the people.
He described activities of some pastors as a phenomenon that hampers the development of the country.
Responding to this in an interview with Asempa News, a member of the Concerned Clergy of Ghana, Bishop Prince Benny-Wood said Mr. Kennedy Agyepong needs to be educated on the role of pastors in the country.
Bishop Been-Wood who also doubles as the host of Kingdom Matters, a religious programme on Asempa FM said, "Kennedy Agyepong does not deserve to be addressed as an honorable member in the country”.
