The Coalition of Concerned Teachers in the Ashanti region says all is set for a nationwide demonstration in Kumasi on Wednesday.
An anticipated fifteen thousand aggrieved members of the two main teacher associations across the country are expected to join their colleagues in Kumasi to push for the removal of the leadership of GNAT and NAGRAT.
The demonstrators tell Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah their leaders have failed in negotiating better salaries for the teachers.
They have therefore secured permits from the police to embark on the demonstration.
To avoid violent incidents which marred similar demonstration in Accra, both the coalition and police have made demands of each other.
Leaders of the coalition say they expect the police to protect them as they embark on the demonstration.
Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Yusif Tanko told Ohemeng Tawiah the demonstrators must strictly abide by the Public Order act to avoid any confrontation with the police.
