The just ended Seventh Africa Media Leadership Conference, (MAY 24-27), held in Kampala, Uganda, has in a communiqué, urged the Government of Ghana to give life to the Freedom of Information Bill.The recommendation, among several others, including a condemnation of the xenophobic attacks in South Africa and the blatant disrespect of the rule of law in Zimbabwe, also urged the entire continent “to embrace and integrate new technology into daily operations.”NOTE: About 30 heads of media firms from Southern Africa, West Africa, East Africa and the Indian Ocean islands of Mauritius and the Seychelles attended the conference, which was organised and hosted by Germany’s Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and Rhodes University’s Sol Plaatje Institute for Media Leadership (SPI).Interviews and further comments can be obtained from: Frank Windeck, Director of KAS Sub-Sahara Africa Media Programme (email: Frank.Windeck@kas.de.
