Mohammed Polo has confirmed he will be named Hearts of Oak manager by the end of the week, revealing his admiration for the club made his decision easier.
In an interview with Asempa FM Sports on Monday morning, the soon-to-be-confirmed coach revealed he will finalise his long-awaited wish to coach Hearts this week.
A list of over twenty coaches showed interest to take up the coaching job at Accra Hearts of Oak, but the ex-Hearts of Oak talisman remains front-runner of the vacant coaching job and is on the verge of being appointed as the new coach of the Club.
"I have been given the contract. I am studying it and will surely sign it," Polo said.
"I belong to everybody and Hearts is a family to me. I served Hearts for twenty-one years from 1972 to 1993."
"I will never turn back on Hearts if they need me to stir the team. I believe with confidence, I will lead Hearts to glory."
Polo added: "I have my principles as a coach but I also need to listen to the supporters' views and opinions of the management because the Hearts coaching job is not for one person."
The 1978 Africa Cup of Nations winner however denied that he manipulated the sacking of coach David Duncan in order to hand him the coaching role of the club.
"I had always backed Duncan to succeed with Hearts of Oak. It's the board's decision to part ways with him. The board told me their reasons for sacking Duncan and I believe that will guide me."
Hearts will face Ebusua Dwarfs in the Ghana Premier League in Cape Coast when the league resumes this weekend.
