The construction of 400 affordable housing units by the State Housing Company (SHC) in the Ashanti Region has stalled due to land litigation.
The company risks losing 107 acres of land for the project at Kagyase near Kumasi.
Officials claim they properly acquired the land but a private developer has taken over a greater portion following a High Court ruling.
After a failed attempt to have the decision overturned, the company wants government to intervene as clients demand delivery of the houses they have already made part payments for.
Zonal Operations Manager of SHC, Emmanuel Takyi says the company is yet to appeal to the Chief Justice to appoint a judge to sit on the issue again following the death of the previous one.
According to him, the company is only able to work on only five houses out of the 50 that are being constructed.
Director at the Works and Housing ministry, Alhaji Yaryah Hameed Yakubu, says the company’s board is pursuing the matter.
