A convict serving a two-year jail term has had his sentence extended by one additional year with hard labour for escaping from lawful custody.
Daniel Koffie, together with eight other prisoners at the Amanfrom Camp Prisons, had been sent to carry fuel wood from a farm, when he slipped through.
The incident happened on June 28, and he was recaptured 13 days later at Akropong.
He pleaded guilty to the offence, when he appeared before a Kumasi Circuit Court, presided over by Mrs. Afia Adu-Amankwaah.
Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour Kyei said Koffie had earlier been convicted for stealing.
