Residents of Soko-Russia in Accra are yet to come to terms with the mystery surrounding the death of a couple in their room at the Mission House of the Lord Church International on Saturday.The deceased, Samuel Lamptey, 34, a former pastor of the Church now internet cafe operator and his wife, Catherine Larni Zanyo, 3l, a seamstress, were found naked in the room. The man was found lying supine on the floor and foaming from the mouth, while the woman lay prostrate foaming at the mouth with blood dripping from the nose.The Dansoman police retrieved a can containing a liquid and a whitish powdery substance wrapped in a paper and pieces of toilet roll from the scene and said they suspected foul play.The Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Yartey Tawiah, said the substances would be sent to the forensic laboratory for test together with a post­mortem examination report to determine the cause of death.The police, he added, will leave no stone unturned to unravel the mystery surrounding the death. Earlier, Lamptey's mother, Mrs Faustina Agyemfra, who is the Head Pastor of the Promises of the Lord Church International, told the police that Lamptey had been a pastor of the church for four years.She said Lamptey stopped his pastoral work and got married to a certain woman with whom he had two children.According to Mrs Agyemfra, the marriage landed on rocks and he married Catherine in May last year.She said Lamptey joined the Four Square Gospel Church while the wife attended Grace Outreach Church.On the day of the incident, she said there was no sign of Catherine who used to sweep the compound early in the morning. It was her absence that compelled one of the family members to knock at their door, but there was no response.When the door was forced open, the two were found dead and a report was made to the police.Ms Georgina Ayikaa, mother of Catherine also told the police that her daughter had been staying with the husband. The last time she saw her was Tuesday, May 12, when she paid the family a visit. She said Catherine had not complained about any problem with the husband.Source: Ghanaian Times
